Centenary of Pacific’s Millwork Project celebrated with spectacular aerial views

By Chris Cockerill / Staff WriterCentenary celebrations are coming to an end in Washington state.

Millworks, a former US military laboratory that was decommissioned in 2008, is celebrating its 100th birthday today with aerial views of the construction site.

The project, which is owned by a consortium of private businesses including Pacific Architects, began in 1899 and was built to test out new technologies for the military.

In 2011, the mill was decomissioned and dismantled to make way for the Pacific Maritime Center, a modern, state-of-the-art facility.

It is currently being converted into the Pacific Architectural Museum.

The centenary event will be held on May 2 from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Pacific Architectures, 1620 1st Ave., Seattle, Washington 98122.
