How to Save Money on Your Portland Millwork By By By Paul Lacey, Business Insider Portland’s city-owned millwork industry is growing fast.
And now the city is offering a new way to do it: by putting the work on the internet.
Portland officials have partnered with the Oregon Architecture and Millwork Institute (OMMI) to provide a new service called Oregon City Millwork to millworkers.
The millwork is designed to streamline operations for millworkers, but is being launched at the same time as the city’s effort to modernize the millwork and bring the industry into the 21st century.
In order to operate in Portland, mills need a certificate of occupancy (COI), a permit from the city, and an approval from the Oregon Health Authority.
The city can then license mills for their operations.
The city’s millwork certificate allows mills to operate with limited or no oversight.
The process can take several months.
The program allows millworkers to apply for a millwork certification, which requires a fee.
“It’s a great way to save on your COI, and the program is a great opportunity for us to connect with the millworkers and make sure they get the training and support they need,” Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said in a statement.
“This will help us make sure our millwork operations are safe, secure, and transparent.”
The Portland millworks program is still in its infancy, and it will be up to mill workers to apply.
Wheeler said the city will work with OMI to get more people certified before the program becomes available.
“We’ll see how it goes,” Wheeler said.
The Portland City Millworks program will be available for a limited time.
